Yoga for Back Care weekend – In Studio & Zoom

November 4, 2023 - November 5, 2023

Join Elise Miller for a weekend of yoga for back care. This event is now being offered in studio and online.
 
Please note that attention and adjustments will be given to those attending live in studio for this workshop. It is preferable to attend in person to gain the most benefit.
 
Many people come to yoga for relief of back pain, whether it’s as minor as neck or lower back tension or as serious as severe scoliosis. Often the pain can be chronic rather than from a specific injury or condition. Done with correct emphasis, yoga asana can be extremely successful in alleviating the pain for mild or serious conditions.
This 2-day in person workshop will address how to use yoga to increase strength and flexibility in the back focusing on the relationship between the spinal column, the pelvis and shoulder blades. Elise will teach both classical and modified asanas that are particularly beneficial for back conditions such as lower back pain, disc disease, sciatica, upper back and neck tightness and scoliosis. Anatomy will be discussed as pertinent to the poses taught.
All levels are welcome, including teachers wishing to enhance their skills with an emphasis on back care.
Yoga for Shoulders, Upper Back and Neck Saturday, November 4, 1-3:30 PDT
We’ll emphasize poses to address poor posture, tightness, reversed neck curve, shoulder dislocation, scoliosis, and kyphosis of the upper back. Many people come to yoga for relief of upper back pain whether it is as minor as neck and shoulder tension or as major as degenerative disc disease. This workshop will emphasize poses to address poor posture, tightness, reversed neck curve, shoulder dislocation, scoliosis, and kyphosis of the upper back.
Yoga for Lower Back Sunday, November 5, 1-3:30 pm PDT
Yoga is a powerful tool for relieving back pain as well as teaching us how to mobilize, align and strengthen this area. This class is designed for all students who need careful attention given to their lower back, hips and pelvis. Elise will adapt certain yoga poses for a wide variety of lower back conditions, and give a series of therapeutic yoga poses for a variety of lower back conditions. She’ll also identify and practice postures that emphasize both strength and flexibility. Anatomy will be discussed as pertinent to the poses we learn.
Sessions will be recorded and available for review for 2 weeks.
Early bird fee for the two (2) days is $135 through October 28. After that date, fee is $150.
 
Individual sessions are $80.
