Friday, October 20: 6:00PM – 8:30PM Yoga for the Neck, Shoulders, and Upper Back
This workshop puts the emphasis on the neck, shoulders and upper back. In this time ofuncertainty, it may feel that we are carrying the world on our shoulders. This class will emphasize poses to address poor posture, tightness, reversed neck curve, shoulder dislocation, and kyphosis of the upper back. Teachers are invited to learn moreon how to help students with chronic neck and shoulder issues. All levels.
Saturday, October 21: 10:30AM – 1:00PM and 2:30pm—5:00pm ~ Yoga for Scoliosis: Structural and
Asymmetrical Non-structural Forms
This workshop will introduce both students and teachers to Elise’s internationally acclaimed methods for working with scoliosis. Elise will discuss the causes and effects of scoliosis and identify different types of scoliosis including nonstructural. Participants will learn how to adapt specific yoga postures with breath awareness to their scoliosis to improve structural alignment and relieve pain. The new addition to this program is how to address some of the asymmetries that show up in the spine that are not related to structural scoliosis but more likely from posture and injuries. All Levels.
Sunday, October 22: 10:00AM – 12:30PM Yoga for the Lower Back and Hips
Yoga is a powerful tool for relieving back pain as well as teaching us how to mobilize, align and strengthen this area. This class is designed for all levels who need careful attention given to their lower back, hips and pelvis. Elise will address how to adapt certain yoga poses for a wide variety of lower back conditions and give a series of therapeutic yoga poses for a variety of lower back conditions. She’ll also identify and practice postures that emphasize both strength and flexibility. Anatomy will be discussed as pertinent to the poses we learn. All levels.
